Tarina rules
Congratulations to Dominica's Tarina Simon on being crowned the Digicel Rising Star, 2007. Tough luck Antigua for being the runners up once again but Tarina was simply the best. Maybe, the third time would be the charm but I suspect the other islands would have something to say about that. For sure Dominica would love to repeat(which I think they can) while the Vincies would be keen to get back to their winning ways. I enjoyed Kyron Baptiste and Peter Ram's performance of "Woman by my Side" towards the end of the show. As an aside am still confused as to why Kyron didn't see it appropriate to perform his single "love at first wine". However, the rendition was really spirited with the two finalists dancing along on stage with them. Then there was Tarina singing, what else but "Simply the best" after she was announced as the winner. I will miss my regular Sunday night dose of Rising stars but before I blink Season 4 will be right at my door.

And then there were three
Am crowning Dominica's Tarina Simon as the 2007 winner. She is cute, vivacious and could belt out a mean song. You go girl, you rock and should win easily despite the Antiguan challenge.
I got a gripe against the organisers though. Why is it that only former Bajan contestants have been invited as guest artistes thus far? I really not buying the line that it's because the show is hosted there. As far as I know LIAT still flies the friendly skies. Season 1 singing cowboy from St Lucia was a big hit with the voting public but no invite. I am watching to see who else will grace the stage for the two remaining shows.

Rising Stars
Call me wicked but I swear the auditions are funnier/more entertaining than the real show. No doubt Simon Cowell of American Idol fame is defintely rubbing off on some judges based on the acerbic comments coming from their mouths. I hope they remember that unlike Simon they will met up with the contestants as they go about their daily life. Hopefully, the local contestants have a thick skin and will not become abusive towards the judges in the event their paths cross.
Anyway, overall the Vincy leg was not disappointing. I say so because prior to the show I was not familiar with the singing ability of the ten mamed finalists that made the cut. Depending on the way the votes go I think SVG has a pretty good chance of repeating its success. Speaking of voting I am still shocked that Dannia Phillips didn't make St Lucia's final two. With that am off to vote for Jestlyn Holder.
