Happy Independence SVG

There are so many things I wanted to say about our 32nd Independence. I was toying with the idea of writing a post that examined the similarites between myself and the nation of St Vincent and the Grenadines. After all we are the same age though I precede her by little over a month. And while for some 32 is not so young it is also not so old either. In fact I think it is that wonderful stage where you begin to understand and find yourself after leaving the often confusing twenties behind.

So while we are grown and have ventured into the world on our the challenges are no less. We are often rudely awakened to the fact that despite our independence we still need helping hands. Many still do not respect our fledgling steps as we seek to create our own space and make our marks. So we get the voiced displeasure when our friends do not fit the script others have written. Or our actions bring cause our older friends to get noastalgic about the good old days.

Then I thought of our resilience and how despite all the adversity we have not given up. That's because we believe in the rainbow at the end of the storm or so I like to believe. After all the anthem says "what e'er the future brings our faith will see us through"

God bless st Vincent and the Grenadines, the prettiest 32 little islands in the world
