Downsides of the digital world

Some pictures of a Vincentian woman performing sexual acts are making the rounds electronically. By all accounts, the pictures of the young woman, who is a public figure have been photoshopped. Prior to this a beauty queen contestant also suffered the same fate. As we are inclined to to do when there is something juicy the "forwarding"is frenetic. I hope nobody sends them to me as I have no desire in being a part of a plot orchestrated to humiliate someone. In my humble opinion, the persons doing the "forwarding"are no better than the perpetrators as they are aiding and abetting the spread of malice.

While I have no knowledge of where the pictures were lifted from social sites like Facebook are fodder for these malicious acts. In this age of sharing and oversharing most of us have been sucked into posting pictures of ourselves, our friends and relatives enjoying moments. It then becomes so much easier especially if we are careless with our privacy settings for someone to copy a photo for their devious plans. Sometimes too, the people we "friend"" turn out to be anything but a friend. That is why I totally understand those persons who are are fearful of putting their pictures on these sites. As a person who has had to deal with someone tampering with my FB page I often feel like removing all photos or deactivating the account.

Anyway, I am longing for the day when these acts are traced to the point of origin and the perpetrators hauled before the courts. Maybe I 've watched too much CSI, SVU and the like but it can't be rocket science to follow the electronic trail. The weight of the law needs to descend on these villains to deter others from being copycats. It is unacceptable for persons to sit and devise ways to defame others and then get away with it. While we pore over the images and make our remarks we should be aware that one day some sick individual may decide to make us their target. Seriously people, get a grip and put away the pettiness because utlimately you are in worse shape than the person you seek to defame

This is completely true. Sick and evil people.

someone sent them to me and i didn't know what it was so, naturally, opened...

what makes it so stupid is that these are obviously (and very poorly) photoshopped...

i can't help wondering what bloody-minded idiot would spend the amount of time necessary to do this? how utterly stupid...

Stupid..sick and the list goes on.@Will the thing is everyone says they are so obvious so why go through with it?

interesting. some people will go to great lengths to defame others

This is why we should be careful what we ost on these sites.
As the saying go "What is fun to you, is death to me" While having fun they don't consider the harm they are creating for others.

Small minded and petty I guess...

They should have a "Like" button for blogs. I like this.
