Yes we did
"It's been a long time coming but I know a change is gonna come" Sam Cooke, sang these words and truer words have never been spoken.
Martin Luther King died for change as did Medger Evers, Malcolm X and many other unknown soldiers. Rosa Parks refused to stand,John Carlos and Tommie Smith raised their clenched fists in Mexico and Barack Obama had the audacity to hope!
After centuries of subjugation and segregation I am unashamedly celebrating the fact that a black man is now the Commander in Chief of the United States of the America. No longer will we hear Bill Clinton spoken of as the first black president or what ever label was attached to him.
Yes siree, colour in the White House and through the front door to boot. Obama to the Wuuuuuuuurl!

You know say me drop a few tears when me hear his victory speech? I liked the McCain speech too. If the republicans live up to it, it augurs well for America.
There is hope indeed and the Audacity of Hope too.
Absolutely wonderful. and to think that the win was by landslide, no hanging chads, no drama, no waiting two weeks after to declare. It was a straigh out clear cut win. A job well done.

I have come to think of change as a physical thing I can hug, hold and kiss. President Elect Barack your achievement is so revolutionary to me, that it has not just brought change for me, it has changed the meaning of the word change for me.
Never saw newspapers sold out so fast. Never saw the laminators at Staples in actions like that. Never knew there was limited hotel space in Washington. January 20th, 2009 will be some day for historians to capture the feeling of a nation.
Every black child around the world... yes you can have the audacity to....
