Lost for words

Four HIV positive mothers, who were aware of their status, have become pregnant again this year. This is according to the HIV/AIDS director who made the disclosure at a press conference on Thursday.Of the seven pregnant women who were tested HIV positive between January 1 and the end of March this year, the four had known of their status before becoming pregnant.

Pretty sobering isn't it? I don't know what to say-maybe just that we know we are losing the war when you hear of stories like this.

Comments:
Bloody criminal, is what it is.

They should tie them off! They are wicked women and should be locked up for brining a poor innocent children into such misery!

Am wondering if the fathers knew of their status. Then how to balance the right to procreate and being up front with your status.Either way somebody not being as responsible as they should be

I was wondering if they had tricked the fathers as well...

this is disgusting

Some people just don't care.

Some don't see it as an issue. It's all about the me thing and the now...

I always have difficulty getting on to your comment page - maybe you are so popular that the traffic can't take it. May you need an upgraded Bloggonator.

Its awful re those HIV mothers but It would take a long time to comment on it. Your Bloggage would definitely crash then.

There has to be more to it than just that!!

They knew of their status before becoming pregnant, I mean I would like to think that they are not malicious women who did this just because they could.

I would also like to believe that they knew the risk their child/children would go through before making this decision.

Maybe they were women who believed that they contracting HIV was not fair, maybe having children was always a goal for them....

I refuse to believe they would get pregnant just because they can.

Sad, but sort of understandable. HIV or not they want to become mothers too. But at what cost?

i'm not 100% sure, but i think transferring AIDS to a baby is fairly preventable.
if that the case the only problem i see is the mother not being able to provide all the care a child might need through it's life.

Peace.
